2026 Municipal Election - Be Prepared to Vote

The 2026 Municipal Election will take place on October 26, 2026.

Make sure you are on the voters' list. Elections Ontario maintains the Permanent Register of Electors for municipal elections, and it's quick and easy to check or update your information online.

Holiday Weekend Closures & Changes

Please be advised that the Otonabee-South Monaghan Township & Fire Administration Offices, and the Waste Transfer Station will all be closed to observe the Easter holiday on:

  • Friday, April 3 &
  • Monday, April 6, 2026.

The Waste Transfer Station will be open on Saturday, April 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Garbage:

  • Friday, April 3 moves to Saturday, April 4.
  • No change to Monday, April 6 collection.

Recycling:

  • No changes to Friday, April 3 or Monday, April 6 collections.

Please be sure to have garbage and recycling to the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Half Load Restrictions - 2026

Half-load restrictions in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan will begin on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
To protect our road network during the spring thaw, half-load restrictions are implemented annually beginning March 1, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. These measures help prevent road damage when municipal roads are most vulnerable to heavy vehicle traffic.
During this period, vehicles are limited to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle, and truck and commercial transport access may be restricted in affected areas.
Restrictions will remain in effect until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise announced.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to preserve our roads.
